BOOK SPACE AT WIELS
On 3 and 4 October 2026, the travelling BOOK SPACE project will be presented at the WIELS Art Book Fair in Brussels, a weekend dedicated to art publishing, independent publishers and artists.
BOOK SPACE will be presented in the entrance hall of WIELS, one of Brussels’ leading contemporary art centres. Visitors will be able to discover a selection of award-winning Czech books highlighting the diversity and creativity of contemporary Czech book culture. The books are presented not only as stories to be read, but also as carefully designed objects where literature, illustration, typography, materials and visual art come together.
Creative Workshop
As part of the BOOK SPACE presentation, visitors will be invited to create their own beautifully designed notebook. Materials from the Secondary School of Graphic Design in Brno will be provided with the support of the South Moravian Region Representation to the EU. Participants will be able to personalise their notebooks using HRYště stamps by Picky Parents.
WIELS Art Book Fair
The fair offers a vibrant setting for discovering, discussing and sharing books, while creating opportunities to connect the Czech and Belgian cultural scenes and bring together artists, publishers, designers and book lovers.
Alongside BOOK SPACE, the programme will feature talks, book signings, readings and performances, offering visitors a full weekend dedicated to contemporary art publishing and the many forms of the book.

BOOK SPACE AT BIEVRE
1/10 – 30/11 2026
From 5 October to 3 December 2026, the Bibliothèque communale de Bièvre will host the next stop of BOOK SPACE, a travelling exhibition celebrating contemporary Czech book culture and award-winning book design.
A small public opening event will take place at the library on 6 October at 18:00. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover a curated selection of Czech books and explore the book as a meeting point of literature, visual art, design and craftsmanship.
Animated Films & Creative Workshops
As part of the accompanying programme, the library will screen animated films from the Zlín Film Festival on 5 and 12 October, and 9 and 16 November 2026. Each screening will be followed by creative activities inspired by the films, including illustration, pop-up scenes, leporello bookmaking and stop-motion animation.
Throughout October and November, local schools will also visit the library as part of educational programmes connecting film, books, storytelling and creative practice.
Graphic Design Workshops
From 16 to 19 November 2026, students and teachers from the Secondary School of Design in Lysá nad Labem will lead hands-on workshops exploring graphic design and book design. The workshops are organised with the support of the Central Bohemian Region.
BOOK SPACE brings Czech book culture closer to Belgian audiences while creating opportunities for cultural exchange, creative learning and a deeper appreciation of books as objects that connect literature, art, design and craftsmanship.
