Šumperák – Loss of the Plan, Tomáš Pospěch, Martina Mertová, PositiF, 2019, 272 pp., Illustrations: M. Nedvěd
The book Šumperák – Loss of Plan by photographer and curator Tomáš Pospěch offers a deep insight into the phenomenon of the “V” type family house, known as šumperák. This house became the most built house in Czechoslovakia and symbolized the modernization of the countryside during the socialist era. The author reflects on questions of originality and seriality in the architecture of that period, showing how the original plan was blurred with each new implementation.
